Start with the invitation
I’m Cristiano, a southern Italian based in Spain. I can consider joining you at a wedding in Spain, Italy or another European destination. Availability and travel are confirmed for each occasion.
Check that your invitation includes a guest and ask the couple when they need your companion’s name. It helps me to know the ceremony and reception locations, whether there are transfers between them and which parts of the day you would like to share.
Meet before joining the other guests
We can begin by exchanging messages, getting to know each other and discussing the atmosphere of the wedding. A call, if you would like one, can help us see how we get along. If the schedule allows, we can also arrange coffee before the reception; that extra time needs to be included in our plans.
There is no need to invent a shared history. We can agree on a simple introduction, such as “Cristiano, my companion”, and respect what you prefer to keep private. I join you as a guest; coordinating the wedding remains the organisers’ role.
Dress code, seating and the smaller details
Share the invitation’s dress code and the type of ceremony. We can discuss clothing, arrival time, dietary requirements to pass on and the seating plan, if available. Settling these details helps avoid rushed decisions on the day.
We can also discuss photographs and what you feel comfortable sharing on social media. Being over 40 or 50 does not define your plans: your style, preferences and the time you want to share are what matter.
The ceremony, the reception or the whole day?
Joining you for the reception alone is a different arrangement from sharing the ceremony and evening party as well. We agree on a start, a finish and any breaks. If the celebration runs late, additional time needs to be agreed rather than assumed.
For a wedding outside the city, we also consider transfers between venues and the return journey. If an overnight stay at the destination is needed, we arrange accommodation and its costs before confirming.
Tell me about your occasion
You could write: “Hello Cristiano, I’m looking for a companion for a wedding in [city] on [date]. I would like to share [the ceremony, reception or evening]. Could we get to know each other and discuss the plans?”.
We first explore whether we get along and whether I am available. We then agree on duration, fees, travel and expenses. There is no need to buy tickets or make reservations before these points are clear.
